Chairman of the Green Economy Committee of JIA Business Association Kubanychbek Alimov participated in the UN Climate Change Conference COP29, which was held in Baku on 11-22 November 2024.
In his speech, he emphasised that climate change poses a serious threat to agriculture, water resources and infrastructure in emerging economies such as Kyrgyzstan. These challenges, he said, complicate the development of small and medium-sized businesses, which are the backbone of the country's economy.
In addition, he noted that sustainable and climate-neutral technologies require large investments, while the financial capacity of businesses in Kyrgyzstan is limited. Kubanychbek Alimov also emphasised that the transition to a sustainable economy should be fair and inclusive, pointing to the need for global support in this process.
The COP29 conference is an important international platform for joint action against climate challenges.
